LEDBURY’S Community Hall was packed on Monday evening (July 23rd) when BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time came to town to record two programmes. Panellists Pippa Greenwood, Anne Swithinbank and Chris Beardshaw, plus chairman Peter Gibbs and their backup production team were guests of Ledbury Allotment Association, as part of their 10th anniversary celebrations.

A spokesman said: "Members of the 200 strong audience, including a fan of the programme from Santa Cruz, California who detoured on his European trip to catch the recording in Ledbury, were selected to ask questions on a mind boggling range of gardening topics. These were all tackled with expert knowledge and humour."

This is a very special year for the Ledbury Allotment Association.

The spokesman added: "This is a very special year for the association, making the arrival of Gardeners' Question Time a double cause for jubilation.

"The Gardeners' Question Time production team responded to an invitation from Ledbury Allotment Association to come to the town as part of the Association’s 10th anniversary celebrations of starting to grow fruit and vegetables on our site in Burton’s Lane, Wellington Heath."

Entrance to the live show was by ticket only, bought from the Number One Sandwich Bar in Bye Street.

But local residents who could not be there will not miss out.

The first programme will be aired on BBC Radio 4 at 3pm today, Friday July 27, with the repeat will be on Sunday July 29 at 2pm.

A second programme from the evening will be broadcast three weeks later on August 17 and August 19.
