A MAN suffered a slash wound when he was set upon by a gang of four men in a night time attack near Cleobury Mortimer.

The horrific incident happened on the A4117 near the flats that were previously the Horse and Jockey pub and entrance to Bell farm at 10.50pm on Saturday June 9, where the 26-year-old victim was sliced on the arm when one of the attackers tried to stab him.

One assailant has been described as black afro Caribbean.

The gang then left the scene in two vehicles – a Ford Focus and a Peugeot – and headed towards Kidderminster on the A4117.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

Detective Constable Matt Howell said: "If anyone has information that can help with our enquiries we'd like to hear from them.

β€œThe incident happened late at night, but someone may have seen or heard something."

Inspector Ed Hancox, who leads the Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "I know residents in Cleobury Mortimer will be concerned that an incident like this has happened near to the town and would like to reassure them extensive enquiries are being carried out into this incident to make sure those responsible are apprehended."
