FAMILIES can get creative with Lego as Forge Mill Needle Museum hosts its first Big Build weekend of the summer.

To celebrate the arrival of the ‘Brick Built’ exhibition, the museum will be hosting the first Big Build sessions this weekend, on July 21 and 22.

Working with Lego artist Warren Elsmore and his team, local families will be able to contribute to building a large Lego mosaic which will be included in the exhibition for the rest of the summer.

Each participant will use Lego bricks to build a small section of a bigger picture.

The big build will take place between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Families can drop in at any time to have a go between these hours.

Admission to the site and taking part in the activity is free for the community as it has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

Children can also take a break from the mosaic to have a go on the bouncy castle in the grounds of the museum.

If participants wish to visit the ’Brick Built’ exhibition and the museum, usual admission fees apply.

Debbie Lakeman, education officer at the museum, said: “We hope to see lots of families joining in over the weekend to contribute to the artwork.

"Many hands will be needed to put together the giant mosaic and each family can create a piece of the project to be admired and appreciated for the rest of the summer. It’s an opportunity not to be missed!”
