THE Worcester wolf-dog placed in temporary accommodation following concerns for its wellbeing had been “howling day and night”, according to residents.

The dog, which is a mixture of wolf and Husky, had been living in Grosvenor Walk.

Posting on the Worcester News Facebook page, Michael Leighton said: “Local residents voiced their concerns on numerous occasions for the dogs welfare to the RSPCA, stating the dog is very distressed and howling day and night outside in a garden since January.

“The RSPCA did visit the property and said there was nothing they could do which I find very concerning.”

Jonathan Kainey-Smith said: “Regardless of breed, the owner allows it to howl during all hours of the day and night, so not surprised there were several complaints.”

Debbie Evans added: “Well done to the residents who obviously kept complaining to get this dog safe.”

Officers from St John’s and Bedwardine Safer Neighbourhood Team and the RSPCA are thought to have visited the address to assess the animal.

Together with Worcestershire Regulatory Services, officers and the RSPCA have contacted the dog’s owner.

Speaking previously, PC Paul Slaymaker said: “The dog now is in suitable accommodation waiting to be rehomed.”

An RSPCA spokesman said: “We are aware of this and have been liaising with the police and the local authority to resolve the situation.

“The police are now leading on this and we will assist where we can.”
