A NIGHTCLUB in Bromsgrove is working to make the town a safer place by installing a life-saving defibrillator at its premises and investing in a nearby youth centre.
57 Monkeys in Worcester Road has been fitted with the town centre's first high-tech defib unit, while owner Michael Taylor has donated £1,000 to The Basement Project to support homeless youths in the community.
The investments come after the venue was accredited by the Best Bar None scheme to improve nighttime safety in Bromsgrove, with Mr Taylor chosen as chairman by local police.
The Golden Cross pub and Slug & Lettuce have also been acknowledged under the scheme in an attempt to provide a safer night out across Bromsgrove.
Former police officer and nightclub owner Mr Taylor said: "It’s been a hugely successful summer for us so far. We thrilled to have been involved with local projects and even more pleased with the accreditation we’ve received."
The team at 57 Monkeys are set to help with the refurbishment of Bromsgrove's Basement Project youth centre in Hanover Street later this year.
