A 49-YEAR-old has had his ban lifted from shopping in Poundland in Hereford.

Michael Dando was banned from the shop in Maylord Orchard Shopping Centre after the manager told him he had been rude and abusive to staff on his last visit.

But Mr Dando, who uses a mobility scooter, said it was a case of mistaken identity and his story was covered in the Hereford Times a few weeks ago.

Almost 20 people signed a letter defending Mr Dando which they sent to the Times, and the letter was forwarded on to Poundland.

Mr Dando was then told by the shop that his ban had been lifted and as a goodwill gesture, they sent £50 in vouchers to spend in the store.

Mr Dando said he was glad to be able to shop there again.

A Poundland spokesman said: "Having now had the opportunity to talk directly to Mr Dando, we’re pleased to have resolved the matter with him."
