A MAN was taken to hospital after a crash in which his car was flipped onto its side.

The 26-year-old man suffered a bumped head and minor cuts and grazes but was able to get out of the car himself after the crash.

The crash happened on a busy St John's road that one woman living nearby branded "a race track."

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics went to the crash in Bromwich Road, St John's, just after 12.15pm today.

The injured man's black Mini Cooper was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Astra.

The road was blocked and briefly closed to allow emergency services to deal with the crash.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

"The crew said he had suffered minor injuries and they were taking him to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital as a precaution."

A police spokesman said officers were called to the two-car crash and briefly closed the road at the request of the fire service.

Tracey Davies who lives near to where the crash happened said there had been several crashes in the same stretch of road over the past few years.

She said: "When will something be done about this road?

"There have been a few.

"I lost my wall and two cars only two years ago and also seven years ago.

"Over the road have also suffered loss of cars and damage to property from another crash.

"The road is like a race track.

"Only last Saturday night two cars were overtaking another car like maniacs."
