STUDENTS put their interviewing skills to the test as they met with local businesses at Studley High School.

Pupils in Year 11 took part in a personal development day, which aimed at preparing them for life after secondary school.

The event included 150 students being interviewed by representatives from Permismmon Homes, Myton Hospice, Ricor, Britannia Washing Systems, Lamberts, McDonalds, GKN, Allelys Haulage, Cloverleaf, and Integrity Accountancy, Stratford Manor Hotel and Bright Kids Nursery.

Headteacher Mr Gray said "Some of the students were daunted at the prospect of being interviewed by a stranger but they rose to the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am very grateful to the many businesses who have supported our school community."

School careers advisor Miss Sienna added: "We would like to thank all the employers for empowering the pupils with confidence for world of work and Warwickshire County Council for supporting this initiative."

The employers praised students for the way they approached the interview and conducted themselves.

Dave Pratt, of the Myton Hospice, said "I have been very impressed by the confidence of the pupils and the quality of their answers, which have been thoughtful and thorough."

The even was partly funded by Warwickshire County Council as part of an employment programme aimed at developing business networks to work with schools and it has already resulted in further engagement through tours, apprenticeships and creative project ideas.
