A HOTEL in south Herefordshire has undergone a refurbishment and has been renamed after being taken over by new owners.

Pengethley Manor, near Ross-on-Wye, will now be called Brooks Country House and reopened on July 1.

It is the first rural location for the established Brooks Hotels brand.

Owners Carla and Andrew Brooks bought the manor house last year and aim to bring ‘affordable luxury’ to the country house hotel scene.

Mrs Brooks has a passion for interiors and has decorated the 22-bedroom hotel with "quintessentially English decor."

She said: "As soon as we first came to Pengethley we were blown away by the location.

"Not only is this a stunning setting for our first country house hotel but there is so much right on your doorstep which feels relatively undiscovered, fresh and authentic."

In autumn this year two beauty and spa treatment rooms will open in the main house, while next spring two classic airstream caravans will provide glamping stays.
