MORE than 2,000 people rolled up at Arrow Valley Country Park to join in the fun of the annual "Green Fair"

Sunday's event combined the Lions Club's fun day and Redditch Borough Council's "green day", with attractions including live music, pony rides, face painting, a climbing wall, circus skills and laser clay shooting.

The local Cadet Corps competed in challenges, including a tug-of-war in a bid to win the Redditch Lions trophy, and there were also classic car and Enfield motorbike displays.

Council events officer Val Wilson said: β€œIt was great to see more than 2,000 people come along for the fun of the cadet challenge, the live music, and of course all the have-a-go activities.

"Even the rain stayed off most of the day.”

Police from the Winyates and Matchborough area took a police car along, inviting children and adults to sit inside and activate the "blues and twos", as well as answering their questions.

Redditch Mayor Joe Baker came along to speak to the officers - but, as the picture shows, he ended up in handcuffs.
