A GROUP of enthusiastic knitters at St John’s Court Nursing Home have been creating individual items to help stimulate people with dementia and vision impairment.
The home has organised a Knit Off to create as many Twiddlemuffs as possible, especially for residents with sensory impairments.
The Twiddlemuff muffs are decorated with items the wearer can play with, by putting their hands inside to hold them, and with decorations with different textures and shapes.
Residents, relatives, volunteers, local students, and the staff at St John’s have all taken part in the Knit Off to create a variety of different Twiddlemuffs, and the creations were judged over two days, with residents, visitors and team members voting for their favourites.
The winning Twiddlemuff was created by Laura Wilkes, who won a gift voucher to local beautician Touch of Beauty.
