PEOPLE from seven months old to 85 got involved recently with a UK wide initiative to get people drawing as part of the Bromsgrove Big Draw.
More than 50 residents from in and around Bromsgrove, turned out to the Methodist Centre to take park, getting colourful with felt tips, or precise with coloured pencils.
The event, which was run by community volunteers, and made possible through donations and hands-on support from a number of local businesses and organisations including Bromsgrove Festival, Charles Lovell & Co., Bromsgrove Library, Charles Howell, What!, Robert Oulsnam, Morrisons, Santander, Artyfacts, ASDA and Bromsgrove Methodist Centre, invited people to choose from a huge selection of art materials, and create something of their own.
Artists created a huge 4.5 metre community drawing about Bromsgrove, which organisers are currently looking for somewhere large enough to display, and many took home their own framed artwork and Big Draw certificates.
A spokesman for the Big Draw said: “The event was so popular that organisers are now planning future Big Draw events and working with Bromsgrove Library to set up an art materials loan scheme for community groups. Watch out for news about this and future events and projects.”
