REPRESENTATIVES from the local business community in Bromsgrove who have been victims of crime, have been invited to take part in a new strategy to help tackle crime in the north of the county.

The North Worcestershire Business Crime Strategy held a launch event this week at Stone Manor Hotel, where it was opened by the Police and Crime Commission’s ambassador for North Worcestershire Mike Layton QPM.

More than 50 representatives from local businesses listened to speakers discussing everything from the launch of the strategy, to business cyber crime and fire and crime security checks.

People were also urged to join the new ‘Facewatch’ scheme, a web-based system, which includes photographs and CCTV images, and shares information about offenders or fraudsters who could potentially pose a threat to local businesses, so staff can remain alert.

North Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership’s rural and business crime co-ordinator David Rischmiller, who works for Bromsgrove District Council, gave a presentation about business crime prevention.

He said: “I am really pleased at the turnout to this event because by working together we can not only help raise awareness about crime but share measures to help combat it."
