TRADERS on Bromsgrove High Street are being encouraged to dust off their best Christmas decorations and get ready to take part in the town’s Best Dressed Window competition.

The contest is being organised by Tow Team and supported by Bromsgrove District Council, with the winner being announced by MP Sajid Javid at the opening of the Christmas Market on Friday, November 20.

Town Team was set up by Bromsgrove traders earlier this year to try and improve and build pride in the high street, and this competition will be judged by Mr Javid along with Town Team chair Lorita Cornish, and Councillor Rita Dent, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for the town centre at 11am just before the Christmas Market officially opens.

The team had already spent its time organising a town clean up, putting a display in an empty shop window, and holding a traders’ day.

Councillor Dent said: “It is great to see traders working together and as a council we are proud to support this. This latest initiative will help our High Street spread Christmas cheer.”

Lorita added: “We have seen a lot of support from traders over the last six months in Town Team and interest in the Best Dressed Window competition.

“It’s good to work together to attract more shoppers to our town which we should be proud of.”

Bromsgrove High Street shop owners who want to enter the competition can let Lorita know by writing to bromsgrovetownteam@gmail.com or they can pop into her business Lorita’s Bakehouse before Friday, November 13.
