SCENES for the epic gangster drama Peaky Blinders are currently being filmed at the Black Country Living Museum.

The museum also featured in the first two series of the hit BBC Two show, with its rolling mill being transformed into Charlie Strong’s scrap metal yard.

Some areas of the Dudley museum will be closed to visitors from today (Thursday) until October 14 while filming takes place for series three, which sees Cillian Murphy resume his role of feared Birmingham gang leader Tommy Shelby.

The new series sees Tommy pulled into the glamourous and dangerous world of international intrigue in 1920s Britain, putting his entire organisation and family at risk.

Paddy Considine, who was recently in Dudley shooting the forthcoming zombie film She Who Brings Gifts, has also joined the cast as a representative of a force beyond anything Shelby has previously encountered.

Creator Steven Knight, said the series will open on Shelby’s wedding day and added: “I’m genuinely thrilled at the prospect of season three. I think it will be the best yet.

“Lots of things familiar but lots of things are new. It’s still a Birmingham story and it always will be.

“Now it has international consequences. I can’t wait to see it myself.”

Cillian Murphy added: “It’s the sin of a great show when by the second or third season it’s richer than ever. The writing this year is the strongest it’s ever been. It’s off the charts.”
