FORGET about the showstoppers on The Great British Bake Off, Redditch is where all the culinary talent is.

Sue Price-Whittle, from the Cooking Company in Lakeside, has been given a prestigious award for her sandwich making skills.

Ms Price-Whittle's sticky pomegranate lamb flatbread, served with glass of red jammy Rioja, scooped her the title of Evening Culture Sandwich Challenge UK winner at the Cafe Life Awards.

She had to prepare her sandwich and beverage pairing for judging before a live theatre audience in London.

Ms Price-Whittle described her entry: “My winning sandwich was a sticky pomegranate lamb flatbread. A slow, roasted shoulder of lamb marinated in fresh pomegranate juice with fragrant North African spices such as cumin, garlic, cinnamon, lemon and rosewater served on Turkish flatbread with yogurt, fresh apple mint and dates. An accompanying glass of deep, red jammy Rioja and fresh green salad finishes the dish perfectly.”
