A MAN who had all of his personal documents stolen from his car while he was visiting a friend in Rednal, is appealing for members of the public to help him retrieve his passport, which contains the only evidence of his right to work in the UK.

Delano Anthony Chambers, who lives in Harrogate, had parked his car on Brookend Drive in Rednal overnight on Tuesday, September 8 while he was visiting a friend there. He left the vehicle at 9.30pm, and at some point between then and 7.30am the following morning it was broken into.

Thieves stole a Dell laptop from the car, along with a number of important documents including both parts of Mr Chambers’ driving licence, his car log book and MOT certificate, and three different copies of his Jamaican passport dating back to 1963.

He said: “In one of the passports is a stamp confirming my right to work and stay in the UK, so you can understand the importance of these documents. The laptop I know will never be returned, and it is a very long shot, but I have to try everything in my power to recover these papers.”

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident, or who has come across any of the items since the theft occurred, is asked to contact West Mercia Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident no. 0066S090915, or alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
