A VICIOUS thug who left a Quinton fish and chip shop owner fighting for his life after a savage knife attack has been jailed for14 years.

Leon McTaggart had denied repeatedly stabbing Narinder Sidhu who was serving at Simply Fish and Chips.

But a jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court found the 30-year-old guilty after hearing how he launched himself at his victim, stabbing him a number of times in the chest and stomach.

This shocking CCTV footage shows McTaggart arguing with Mr Sidhu and fleeing the scene of the crime.

Judge John Warner said McTaggart had seemed “agitated” when he walked into the Hagley Road West takeaway.

The court was told he slammed his fists on the counter, placed no order and then kicked out at a glass door, before stabbing Mr Sidhu.

He was in hospital for two weeks, including two days in intensive care, and continued to suffer as a result of the attack.

Mr Sidhu, aged 51, said he thought he was going to die when he was attacked while his 16-year-old daughter was in a back room peeling potatoes.
