STUDENTS at the Heart of Worcestershire College received acclaim during the college's annual further education awards.

More than 50 students, from the Bromsgrove and Redditch campuses, were presented with prizes.

Titles including Outstanding Achievement, Most Improved and Will to Succeed were up for grabs during the evening.

Josh Howdle, a Public Services- Level 3 student was awarded the Further Education Student of the Year title.

“I am absolutely honoured that my tutors nominated me to be student of the year," He said.

I have never really been recognised in my previous education when it came to awards so I felt that I had made a great decision in my life because I am finally doing something I appear to be good at.

"Again, I would like to thank the college, my tutors and my friends for helping me achieve this award.

"It was a very enjoyable evening and it was good to see so many students doing so well in their given subjects and being recognised for that.”

Vice principal Kelvin Nash said: “We are extremely proud of each and every one of our learners and the developments they have made during their studies.

"These awards recognise the impact students have made on their peers, teaching staff and the College as a whole and it’s fantastic that we have the opportunity to recognise their achievements.”

Guest speaker Dibble Clark, chairman at 3SDL, gave an inspiring and encouraging speech about the importance of vocational education.
