ENGINEERING students at the Bromsgrove campus of HoW College got to see a 3D printer in action, with a visit last week from business entrepreneur and executive director of’Avatar’ Revathi Timms.
Revathi is launching a 3D Printing Essential training course at the college in September, and offered the Level three engineering students a chance to see how the printer works.
She brought in an ‘Ingenium’ 3D printer, which is operated through computer aided design software, something the course guides students through the process of.
Speaking about the course, Revathi said: “It is vital that people have the opportunity to operate and gain skills in digital fabrication, the future of manufacturing and also bring manufacturing in to the hands of the consumers.”
After the demonstration, engineering student, Amelia Andrews, said: “I found it really interesting and it is exciting to see the potential of 3D printing.”
Fellow student, Matt Sproston, added: “It was really informative and interesting, a vision of the future.”
