A STUDLEY nursery has been providing vital first aid training to residents to ensure they are able to act confidently and quickly in an emergency.

Bright Kids, based on Briarwood, The Slough, hosted a training course recently to ensure parents of children at the nursery were able to keep their cool and handle everything from childhood illnesses to infant CPR should an emergency arise.

The course was inspired by Millie’s Trust, a charity established by Joanne and Dan Thompson, who lost their daughter Millie after she choked to death at a nursery in 2012.

The charity campaigns for everyone to have access to first aid.

Nursery manager Tina Davis, said: “The response from our parents was very positive, and they brought along neighbours and friends to benefit from the experience.

“We were extremely pleased with the turnout, and we’ve had excellent feedback, so we’ll be looking to hold another event for those parents who were unable to attend this session.

The training course was free-of-charge, though participants were asked to make donations to Millie’s Trust.
