THE family of a Kidderminster teenager who died one year ago today in a tragic accident have paid tribute to their “inspirational son”.

Josh Jones, 18, was working underneath a car in Kidderminster when the axle stand feet buckled and the vehicle fell on top of him.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and after seven days in intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, lost his fight for survival on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

His parents, Stephanie and Rob Jones, have paid tribute to their son on the first anniversary of his death.

“We are so blessed to have such an inspirational son and he was a great brother.

“The world was a better place with him in it and his legacy will go on,” they said.

Josh's sister, April, added: “Josh was a great brother, although I am his older sister he was the one who looked out for me.

“I have lost a huge part of me and life will never be the same without him.

“Forever in my heart and always on my mind big little brother.”

Josh’s parents have since set up a charity in Josh’s legacy, to help bereaved families with the financial side of funeral costs when a loved one has passed away.

Josh’s Prayers provides grants to people in order to lessen the burden of burial or cremation arrangements at a difficult time.

Since the charity was started in August 2014, they have raised more than £8,000 and have so far helped four families with the disbursement fees.

Annalise Marcarelli, charity committee member, said: “He was absolutely one of a kind, you get the one friend like Josh in a life time, I feel lucky to have known him.

“All he wanted to do was to make people laugh, make other people happy. He was someone you could call in the middle of the night if you were in trouble and he would be there.”

“He will never be forgotten; he is truly missed and will always be loved.”

Kenny Cummins, chairman of the charity, said “Josh’s legacy will always live on in the charity Josh’s Prayers set up to help bereaved families with the financial burden of funeral costs after a loved one has passed away.”

The charity is holding a day of family fun and live music in the Severn Meadows, in Stourport, on Saturday, July 18. The event will take place on what would have been Josh’s birthday and will raise funds for Josh’s Prayers’ work with other bereaved families locally.

The fundraising and awareness event will feature children’s entertainers, fire eaters and puppet shows during the day and four live bands in the evening.
