YOUNGSTERS at Sytchampton First School were getting to grips with the democratic process by holding their very own election alongside the general election on Thursday.
The pupils voted for their own four parties; the Food Fight Friday party, the Extra Long Playtime party, the Bring your Pet to School party, and the Technology Tuesday party.
Year three and four students all worked hard to persuade their fellow pupils to vote for them, along with staff members and parents at the school, and to further their understanding they also paid a visit to a nearby election polling station at Sytchampton Village Hall.
Headteacher Sharon Williams, said: “Hawks Class had a great time running their own election; it has really helped them to understand about the British value of democracy. The winning team will be announced on Friday and they will organise a special day in school. It has been really hands on learning and they all gained confidence from giving presentations in our celebration assembly and promoting their party.”
