ANIMAL lovers from Bromsgrove and the surrounding area are being invited to take part in a fundraising tea party for the Blue Cross Animal Rehoming Centre.

The ‘Paws for Tea’ tea party will see visitors to the centre on Wildmoor Lane in Catshill enjoying a cup of tea and a slice of cake in exchange for a small donation to the charity, which will be going toward the care of homeless horses and ponies at the centre.

Neil Edwards, centre manager at Blue Cross in Bromsgrove, said: “Enjoying a slice of cake and a cup of tea has never been more rewarding. Blue Cross helps over 40,000 sick, injured and homeless pets every year, and its events like Paws for Tea that make it possible. Every penny raised really does help.

“Whether people come along to our tea party, or host one of their own, we hope lots of people will get involved with this year’s event.”

People will also have the chance to sign up for the charity’s annual sponsored dog walk, taking place later this year, where dog owners will be able to choose between a short one mile walk, which is suitable for children and people with disabilities, and a longer 4.5 mile walk for people and dogs wanting more of a challenge. Walkers pay £5 to join in, and they can also collect sponsors, receiving a certificate, a rosette, and a goodie bag for their dog if they take part.

The Blue Cross also has a number of car boot sales planned over the summer with the first set to take place on Saturday, May 16 from 9am to 12noon.
