THOUSANDS of revellers turned out to witness the official opening of Alcester’s first artisan market held in High Street.
The event saw town mayor Yvonne Hine and the high bailiff of Alcester Court Leet Vaughan Blake cut the ribbon and welcome visitors into the market.
The bazaar sold a wide range of quirky, unique and unusual products including handmade jewellery, fabrics and water colour originals.
Products sold at the market aimed to compliment rather than compete with existing traders in town.
High Street businesses supported by the event by keeping their doors, which are usually closed on Sunday, open.
The market is organised by Alcester Community Trust with support from Alcester Chamber of Trade and is operated by Cotswold Markets Ltd, a market operating and stall hire organisation.
The market is open from 10am until 4pm on every third Sunday of the month with the next market being held on May 17.
