POLICE seized two vehicles that were being driven illegally during a two-day vehicle operation in Moreton and Bourton on April 22 and 23.

Cotswold Police Sergeant Richard Payne said operation Wheeled Respect had bee conducted in response to a number of local complaints received and focused primarily on road safety and vehicle related crime.

Cross-partnership agencies came together during the operation including Tri Force traffic officers, the dog section Revenue and Customs and Trading Standards.

Various vehicles of all categories, including cars, vans and HGVs were checked throughout the two day operation, resulting in a substantial number of fines being issued and the seizure of two vehicles.

In addition, fixed penalty notices were issued for a range of offences including tyre and brake defects plus other vehicle defects, which, if not detected, could have proved very dangerous for the driver, other road users and pedestrians.

Sgt Payne said: “The operation has been very successful and well received within the community. The successful outcome has been the result of communities in both areas raising their concerns and a multi-agency approach was put in place to resolve these issues. We are planning further operations throughout the year which will continue to focus on community concerns throughout the North Cotswolds.”
