A KEEN cook from Bromsgrove has had one of her traditional family recipes included in a collection designed to preserve recipes through generations.

Karen Evans had her recipe for a traditional tea loaf included as part of the ‘Great British Recipe Tree’, a collection of UK favourites, which has been organised by developers McCarthy & Stone to mark Mother’s Day and Easter.

Mrs Evans said: “This one is simple, old fashioned, tasty, and economical. Great for afternoon tea and picnics and it was passed down from my grandmother, to my mother, to me.”

Chetna Makan, semi-finalist on The Great British Bakeoff in 2014, has put forward her own personal favourite recipe for the collection for sour and spicy potatoes, handed down to her from her mum.

She added: “My Mum is the main reason I love cooking. All my knowledge of cooking and flavours comes from her and I have learned everything by just watching her cook. And now I want my kids to have the same experience with food as me. So I try and bake a lot with them and they are already becoming very keen little bakers themselves.”

The recipe collection can be picked up from any McCarthy & Stone development.
