RESIDENTS in Wythall are set to see a reduction in litter on the streets in their area, thanks to the involvement of a local company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Phoenix Group, which is based in the area, has been working with Bromsgrove District Council to send volunteers out from its workforce of 600 on a number of litter picks.

After staff volunteering on a recent litter pick noticed an unusually high number of cigarette butts on the floor in one spot on May Lane, Phoenix and the council have arranged for two new bins to be installed, with cigarette butt end receptacles.

Bromsgrove district councillor Mark Bullivant, said: “We are pleased to have worked with Phoenix Group again to help them with their CSR objectives and hope that more businesses come forward if they are interested in how we can help them too. It is only by working together with local people that we can identify problems and help residents. These small changes can really make a big difference to the community both locally and for the district as a whole.”

Lucy Symonds, corporate responsibility manager at Phoenix Group added: “It is great to see that our CR initiatives are making a real difference to the Wythall community, and look forward to a continued partnership with Bromsgrove District Council.”

The new bins have now been installed and unveiled in Wythall. Any other businesses interested in giving back to the community, are invited to contact Bromsgrove District Council for help in achieving their objectives, on 01527 881188 where they can discuss and ideas or plans.
