A STRING of burglaries have been committed in Ledbury and Colwall in recent weeks, police say.

Jewellery was taken from a property on Bank Crescent in Ledbury between 3pm on October 19 and 12.45pm last Thursday.

A small amount of jewellery was also taken from a house in Colwall between 3pm on October 19 and 11am the following morning.

Meanwhile, police say several porcelain figurines were taken when an offender or offenders forced entry to a property in Biddulph Way in Ledbury between 7:40pm on Friday 26 September and 9am Saturday 27 September, when an offender or offenders forced entry. Once inside, they searched the house and stolen several porcelain figurines.

Also on September 27, between 6pm and 11.45pm, a second house was broken into on the same street. A quantity of jewellery and some brass figures were taken.

"I would like to reassure the communities of Ledbury and Colwall that Herefordshire is still one of the safest areas to live in the country, which on the whole has a low percentage of dwelling burglaries," said Detective Constable Laurence James.

"Please don’t be afraid to call police with anyone acting suspiciously in your area. The police would rather the public call than not.

"They are the eyes and ears in their community and play a vital part in any investigation. Don’t leave it to someone else to call."

Anyone with information about the burglaries should call DC James at Hereford Police Station on 101, extension 4569.
