BROMSGROVE Olympique Cycling Club held its annual dinner dance at the Marlbrook, which attracted a record attendance of more than 200 people. At its annual general meeting, held a day later, it was reported that the club was more financially sound than in previous years and there were now more than 35 paid up members.
à FOLLOWING the announcement to raise rents on Bromsgrove’s council estates, there were rumours of a rent strike among those who lived on Catshill’s estate. Labour councillors, including Mr Webley, had called a press conference on the matter.
In a prepared statement Mr Webley said it was important that the public were aware of the reasons for large rent increases and were persuaded not to take the foolish actions
