AT Bromsgrove Petty Sessions, Henry Dolphin was charged by Elizabeth Adams, of Stoke Prior, with being £4 17s in arrears under a bastardy order. Defendant said he had not got the money, but they were going to get married and settle the matter. Complainant added that she wanted to withdraw the case. Defendant would put up the banns next Sunday and they were going to be married in a month’s time.
Complainant’s mother asked how she was coming off for keeping the baby for 12 months for nothing. The magistrates clerk said she must arrange that with her daughter.
A BOOK was published through the county council showing the progress of the experimental garden at Droitwich since it was established in 1896.
Strict records had been kept of the cultivation of crops,andthe growth of fruit under various conditions of treatment, showing which varieties produced themosteffective yieldoverthe 17 years. The garden contained 95 varieties of apples, 47 of plums, 36 pears, 12 gooseberries, nine strawberries, 12 currants and seven raspberries.
Over the previous year it had received 50,000 visitors.
