RESIDENTS at a Droitwich care home have been raising awareness of breast cancer.

People at Westmead Care Home, Westmead Close, have been working on a heart-shaped collage of butterfly prints to promote and highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

They were joined by Sanctuary Care’s managing director Steve Wood on Tuesday, October 2.

He said: ““I was delighted to see the enthusiasm of the residents. They and the team put a lot of thought and effort into this project to raise awareness of the charity’s good work.”.

The collage is being made by cutting different coloured pieces of paper into the shape of butterflies and attaching them to a canvas to form the shape of a heart.

When finished, it will go on display at the home during a coffee morning for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Friday, October 12.

Home manager Sue Stokes said the collage was organised because they wanted to raise further awareness of the disease.

“Many of us know someone who has had breast cancer, and with many of the staff are in the age group of those most at risk it’s something we felt was worthy of support,” she said.
