POLICE are appealing for information after money was taken from a purse at a Droitwich Spa pub.

Officers investigating the theft have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

A total of £70 was taken from the purse after it was left on a stool in the smoking area of the Star and Garter pub on High Street at 11.30pm on Saturday, August 4.

PC Jonathan Pardoe, who is investigating the incident, said: "Although not a huge amount of cash was taken, whoever stole the money is an opportunistic thief and should not be allowed to get away with it.

"We are keen to trace the man in the image as he may have information about this incident.

"He was in the pub at the time and could have seen something which would help us with our inquiries.

"I would urge anyone who recognises him to call us or, if you are the man in the image, contact us straight away so that we can eliminate you from our inquiries."

Anyone with information about this theft can call PC Pardoe on 0300 333 3000, quoting 32S 050812 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
