THE Beacon Camera Club, a charity in Malvern, is again hosting the Worcestershire Young Photographer of the Year competition which it operates in association with Worcestershire County Council Children’s Services Directorate.

This annual competition is open to any pupil under the age of 19 on September 1 2012 who is in full time education at any school within the county.

Entries will be accepted between September 1 2012 and January 31 and should be submitted via beaconcameraclub.co.uk. Images can be of any subject and taken on any camera which produces a digital image.

Entries will be judged by a  panel of experienced Beacon Camera Club members, many holding distinctions from the Royal Photographic Society, and 50 finalist images will be selected for display by projection onto a large screen at an awards night to be held at the Bishop Perowne Church of England College, one of the competition’s sponsors.

All images displayed at the event will be published in the “Worcestershire Young Photographer of the Year 2013 Year Book”.

Prize-winners will receive a photographic training day, a mounted print of their winning image, and other photographic items.

Prizes are being kindly donated by the Worcester branches of Jessops and London Camera Exchange.

The competition will be split into three age group categories of primary, lower secondary and upper secondary.

Last year’s winning entries can be viewed at beaconcameraclub.co.uk.
