YOUNG Droitwich Spa air cadets have been honoured by Wychavon District Council following their recent successes in competition.
The Royal Air Force Air Cadets 2516 (Droitwich) Squadron recently claimed eight separate trophies in one competition, and was named best squadron in the area. The Droitwich cadets faced numerous other squadrons from across the West Midlands in a variety of competitions, from aircraft recognition through to drill.
The cadets are also reigning national drill champions, an honour they achieved at RAF Halton in November 2011 and one they will be looking to defend later in the year.
They were presented with a certificate when they performed a drill at the Civic Centre in Pershore on July 17.
Councillor Richard Morris, chairman of Wychavon District Council, said: “It was a privilege to meet the cadets to congratulate them and present them with a certificate in recognition of their achievement. The cadets work hard, do a great job and they should be very proud of themselves for the excellent example they set to young people everywhere.”
