RESIDENTS at a care home in Droitwich are inviting people from the community along to their mini Olympics event.

There will be fun for all the family at Westmead Care Home’s Olympic-themed garden party on Wednesday, August 8, between 11.30am and 3pm.

The residents have been hand-decorating eggs for the egg and spoon race during their activities sessions and there will be the chance to show off sporting prowess in a variety of other games too, including bean bag throwing, boules and a relay.

Hungry athletes and spectators will enjoy tucking into hot dogs and chips and will have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes in the raffle.

The home will be dressed to the nines in bunting and flags to make sure everybody is feeling patriotic and there will be a three dimension Olympic-themed board - complete with an inflatable torch - celebrating the exciting occasion.

The home’s manager Sue Stokes said: “There has been so much excitement in the build-up to the Olympics and it is here at last. There has been such a buzz in the home as our team and residents have been preparing for this event and we are really looking forward to welcoming people from the community along to join us.”

Entry to the event will be free and there will be a small charge for refreshments, which will go to the home’s activities fund to pay for trips and activities for the residents to enjoy.
