A TALK about plans by British Waterways to transfer to a charitable trust is set to be held in Droitwich Spa.

The event has been arranged by the Droitwich Waterways Trust and is being held at Droitwich Rotary House, Corbett Avenue, at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 21.

British Waterways is due to transfer to charitable status this year. The new charity, the Canal and River Trust, has already appointed a number of trustees and is due to begin operating next month.

Jack Hegarty, who has been managing director of Wychavon District Council for the last seven years, has been appointed chairman of the South Wales and Severn Waterways Partnership which covers the area between south Birmingham down to Sharpness and over to Swansea.

He will present the talk about plans for the future of the trust and the partnership.

Entrance costs £2 for trust patrons and £4 for visitors.
