Twin town proposals take step forward

PROPOSALS for Droitwich Spa to be twinned with a French town have moved a step closer to reality.

Several people have now come forward to offer their help in building a future relationship with Voiron following a request to Droitwich Town Council for a twinning partnership.

Those people and others who would like to explore this further are now invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, November 24 at 7.30pm in the Community Hall, Heritage Way.

On hand will be Robin Hartridge and Peter Field, the current and previous chairmen of the town’s Bad Ems Twinning Association, advising upon their association’s experiences.

Voiron is located in the south east of France and is a very attractive market-town of about 23,000 inhabitants in the foothills of the Alps and within easy reach of Grenoble.

It has an excellent summer climate and is also convenient for winter sports. Grenoble airport is about 16 miles from Voiron and has regular flights by EasyJet and Ryanair to UK destinations. Further information on the area will be available at the meeting.

Anyone interested in knowing more about the potential partnership should call Pam Craney, town clerk, on 01905 774258.
