A SPA teenager is making a bid for stardom as she attempts to battle through to the finals of a national singing competition.
Amy Weir, of Sandles Road, has sung her way through the auditions of UK Idol 2008, to reach the regional final in November. The 15-year-old caught the eye with her performances in the competition, the largest outside of ITV’s X Factor, and she now hopes to make it through to the national final, where she would compete for a recording contract and maybe a hit single.
The Droitwich High School pupil has previously won best female at her school’s pop idol competitions, and she has also sung at the Lido park.
Amy said: “I entered and was successful in getting through. This is my next step. I am very excited about it and hope to do well.”
Amy will be competing amongst other talented hopefuls at the regional final, which will be held at the Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, on October 28.
