WORCESTER residents are being encouraged to swing into action and support a charity golf day in Ombersley.

The Independent Fundraisers of Worcester group is holding its annual charity golf day at Ombersley Golf Club on Thursday, June 9.

The 18 hole AM-AM competition is open to teams of four with prizes awarded to the winning team, best individual, nearest the pin, longest drive and longest putt.

There is also a yellow ball competition.

Money raised at the event is being donated to the Worcester-based West Mercia Search and Rescue (WMSAR) - a group of volunteers that are the first point of contact by the emergency services for flood and land rescue.

WMSAR has to raise their own funding to keep operational, and to cover their extensive training costs.

Entry costs £40 which includes the cost of a round and a two-course carvery meal, before a presentation of prizes.

There will also be a raffle with a wide range of prizes.

Members of Ombersley Golf Club receive a substantial discount.
