TWO men have been arrested after a fatal collision in Redditch killed a motorcyclist.

A 19-year-old man from Redditch was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while a 20-year-old man from Redditch was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police and has been released on bail until Friday, November 13.

Police believe two motorbikes may have been involved in the incident.

The crash, which saw the Honda bike collide with a road sign, happened at the junction of Woodrow Drive and Woodrow South at about 1.30am on Monday (October 26).

Tragically the motorcyclist, believed to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene according to ambulance staff.

A passenger, believed to be in his late teens, was taken to Alexandra Hospital with chest, arm and leg injuries.

Police have stated it is unclear whether the deceased was the driver or the passenger of the motorbike.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic and a paramedic area support officer to the scene.

A spokesman for the service said: “Unfortunately it was almost immediately clear that there was nothing that could be done to save the motorcycle rider and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

“Ambulance staff would like to than a woman who stopped to offer assistance in the very early stages of the incident.”

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
