DROITWICH residents will have their first chance to take a closer look at the proposed plans for the new Yew Tree Hill housing development, which will see 765 homes being built to the south of the town.

Developers were granted outline planning permission to build a residential development and associated works on the site after an appeal in January and February last year.

Now the first reserved matters application is about to come before the planning committee at Wychavon District Council, to look at the appearance, general layout and landscaping of the Persimmon Homes part of the development which accounts for around 265 homes.

People are being invited to look at the plans ahead of any decisions being made.

Councillor Richard Morris, ward member for Droitwich South East, said: “Whilst we lost the appeal to stop the Yew Tree Hill development, it is now important that we concentrate our efforts on making sure that the proposals are of the highest quality. That’s why we want as many people as possible to come along to view the plans and then make their comments ahead of our Planning Committee meeting.”

The Yew Tree Hill development area covers the Droitwich south east ward, and the Lovett and North Claines ward.

Lovett and North Claines councillor, Tony Miller, added: "We too would urge people from our ward to come and view the plans and make their views known ahead of the application going to our Planning Committee.”

The public viewing will take place in the council chamber at St Richard's House, from 6.30-9pm on Wednesday, October 7.

The Persimmon Homes application (ref. W/15/01187/RM) is likely to go before the planning committee on Thursday, November 12. People can comment on the application at wychavon.gov.uk or by post to Wychavon District Council, Planning Department, Civic Centre, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Pershore, Worcestershire, WR10 1PT before November 12.

The Redrow Homes application which accounts for the other 500 homes on the site, will follow later in the year, and further details should be provided when they are available.
