KEEN growers and gardeners from across Droitwich turned out to the Droitwich Spa and District Horticultural Society Annual Show this weekend at the town’s leisure centre.
More than 500 exhibits were on display across a range of classes with flower arrangements, vegetables and fruits filling the tables, as well as displays of local handicrafts, baked goods, and photography.
Children were also invited to enter fruit and vegetables into their own displays, and there was entertainment in the form of a puppet theatre and a blackboard art competition.
Droitwich mayor Graham Beale presented awards to the prize-winners, with a Pershore man, Rob Perry, receiving the trophy for most points in the show with an array of different vegetables.
The Droitwich Horticultural Society, promotes not only horticulture, but also cake and pie making, and arts and crafts including photography, knitting, and needlework. For more information, contact the secretary Val Jancey on 01905 778384.
The Society will be holding its Autumn Show on Saturday, September 19 at David’s Nurseries in Martin Hussingtree.
