YOUNGSTERS from the Boys and Girls Brigade in Droitwich Spa are raising money for the town’s Foodbank with a sponsored row over the Salt Fest weekend.
The rowers who are all based at Droitwich Baptist Church, will be using equipment from Physique Gym to complete their rowing challenge, with rowing machines set up by the entrance to St Andrew’s Shopping Centre over the weekend.
They will be rowing for 24 hours from 6pm on Friday, September 11 to 6pm on Saturday, September 12, and they will also be having a practise session at the Baptist Church on Thursday, September 3 to stretch their rowing muscles.
Meg Richards, the deputy project leader for Droitwich Foodbank is thrilled by the effort. She said: “We are delighted that the Boys and Girls Brigade from Droitwich Baptist Church supported by their leaders and parents are undertaking a 24 hour sponsored row in aid of the Foodbank over Salt Fest weekend.
“We feel that the practice session and the actual event are something to really celebrate, and we want to let these youngsters know how important their efforts are for the community in which they live.”
If anyone would like to support the rowers they will be able to find them by the entrance to St Andrew’s Shopping Centre over Salt Fest weekend, or they can donate directly to Droitwich Spa Foodbank at droitwichspa.foodbank.org.uk/donate.
