CHILDREN at Cutnall Green First School in Droitwich have been enjoying a week of ecology themed fun.

The youngsters launched into their week with a guest representative from the charity Water aid, who came in to give an assembly about access to clean drinking water around the world.

They have also taken part in their own water challenges at home, made posters, and discovered more about the environment and energy use, joining in with some thoughtful discussions and taking part in fun activities.

As an added extra they also had the opportunity to give their input on how the school grounds might be made more environmentally friendly and energy could be saved.

Headteacher Catherine Atkinson, said: “The whole school community has got involved. The children are fascinated by issues relating to the environment, from the youngest in pre-school to the eldest in Year 4, and have produced some excellent work. They are passionate about making the world greener, and have had many ideas on how we can do this locally.”

Helen Smith, eco-schools coordinator, added: “Our work in this area is becoming much more embedded throughout the school and curriculum. Children are becoming aware of their role in helping the environment and promoting eco issues.”
