FOR many people in and around Droitwich there will be a number of chances coming up to meet some of the new district councillors, and put questions to them with three ‘Meet your Council’ events.

Councillors Lynne Duffy and Tony Miller will be in their Lovett and North Claines constituency on July 25 from noon to 4pm for Fun in the Brum in Fernhill Heath.

On August 12, Councillors Jan Bolton and Catherine Powell will be in their Droitwich West constituency at Westlands Community Day from noon to 3pm.

Finally in the Droitwich Central constituency on September 15, Councillor Roy Murphy will be paying a visit to a number of businesses in the North Street area all day, and holding a surgery in the afternoon.

Tracy Perkins, localism and communities officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “Some of the best Meet your Council events we have done have taken place during the summer at community games, fetes, flower shows and music festivals. All of the events will offer open surgeries or similar opportunities for people to come along to – without the need to make an appointment – and chat to their councillor and our officers, so we hope that anyone with anything to say will take the opportunity to come and meet us.

“As a direct result of last year’s events and some of the issues raised by residents and businesses we’ve addressed problems with litter and dog mess, made sure overgrown hedges were cut and we’ve repaired damaged goal posts. We’ve also given advice to businesses on business rates and broadband, we have written articles for a number of the businesses we’ve visited to promote them in the local papers, and we’ve reported issues with pavements, potholes and street lighting to the Worcestershire County Council Highways Team for them to address.”

The Meet your Council events will continue throughout the year. For more information, visit wychavon.gov.uk/list-of-district-councillors.
