MORE than 230 people and their four-legged friends turned out recently to support the Great British Dog Walk at Hanbury Hall.

The walk was organised at the National Trust property to raise funds and awareness for the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which pairs up people who are severely or profoundly deaf, with specially trained dogs, who alert them to sounds and provide emotional support.

TV presenter and countryside enthusiast Adam Henson came along with his Hungarian Visla, Boo, to take part in the walk.

He said: “I have really enjoyed today's walk in the lovely grounds of Hanbury Hall. It's been great to see so many sociable and well behaved dogs. It's was also great to get the opportunity to watch the hearing dogs demonstration, I find what the dogs are able to do amazing.

"Whilst I have been here I have been able to speak to some deaf people who have hearing dogs and learning about their experiences, it's clear that having a hearing dog is life changing."

The dog walkers had a choice between a 6km or 2.5 km route, taking them on a scenic route around the grounds of Hanbury Hall, before taking in stalls, activities and a hearing dogs demonstration.
