THE Droitwich Spa Advertiser is teaming up with Droitwich Lions Club to launch an exciting new community grant scheme which could help fund a number of local projects.

The scheme, which is launching today, is offering hundreds of pounds to community groups in and around Droitwich.

Droitwich Lions Club has £1,500 to share out to big and small groups in the area to help with vital community work, and each group can bid for up to £300.

The initiative, which is being supported by the Advertiser, is using money raised during the Christmas period from the Santa Sleigh collections conducted by the Lions around town, and it is inviting applications from interested groups.

Lion President Dave Sherwen said: “The Club is launching the scheme to celebrate our 30th anniversary of service in the town, and to thank the people of Droitwich for their generous donations over the Christmas period. The scheme will also help us identify deserving community groups that at the moment may be unknown to the Lions.”

To apply for a grant, write to Droitwich Lions Club Grant Scheme, c/o 2 Gorse Close, Droitwich, Worcs, WR9 7SG. Applicants must include the full name of the organisation, a contact name and telephone number, how much money is being applied for and an explanation of how the money will be used.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, April 1.
