GENEROUS staff, parents and children at Ombersley Endowed First School and Nursery in Droitwich have been busy collecting, wrapping, packing and donating shoeboxes full of gifts as part of this year’s Operation Christmas Child campaign.

The campaign asks for items such as toothbrushes and soap, as well as pencil crayons, notebooks and sweets to help children in war-torn countries and extreme poverty.

The school managed to collect enough items to make up 65 Christmas boxes, which have now been collected, and will be distributed through the charity to children around the world.

Mrs Caroline Moore, headteacher at the school, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and this campaign helps us to teach our children about generosity and compassion for other children who in some cases, do not have the food, home or toys that we take for granted. I’d like to thank all our parents, children and staff for helping us to support this very worthwhile cause.”
