A CAMPAIGN aiming to reduce the strain on A&E departments in Worcestershire has been nominated for a prestigious public relations award.

The Is A&E For Me? campaign is one of five Midlands finalists competing for the Best Healthcare Campaign award in this year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations Pride awards.

The campaign was arranged by the communications team at NHS South Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – the organisation responsible for organising and paying for health services in the area – with the aim of raising awareness of facilities available through NHS 111, Minor Injury Units and pharmacies.

Urgent Care Lead for all three CCGs in Worcestershire Ruth Davoll said: “This was a very important campaign as we needed to make sure that we were cutting the number of unnecessary admissions to emergency departments.

“We’ve put a lot of time and resource into promoting the campaign as far and wide as we could, using some techniques that we had not tried before, like the mobile app.

“We’re really pleased with the results that we achieved; over what was a busy winter period.”

The winner will be announced at the CIPR Pride awards dinner at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Friday, November 14.
